Live stream

We are excited to be able to offer anybody with an internet connection the possibility to participate in WEAthens2014!

We will be streaming from 09:00-22:00 on Monday 3rd, 09:00-14:00 on Tuesday 4th and 09:00-13:00 on Friday 7th December. Please see the agenda for details of what is on during these times.

If you cannot make it during these times, please be aware that all of the sessions at the conference are being recorded and will be available for download from this site and at a later date.

How to join the live stream

To join us live, you will need to install VLC media player and direct it to the WEAthens2014 live stream.

Installing VLC


Download the self-extracting package from the VLC Windows download page. Launch the .exe to install VLC.

Mac OS X

Download the Mac OS X package from the VLC MacOS X download page. Double-click on the icon of the package and an icon will appear on your Desktop, right beside your drive(s). Open it and drag the VLC application from the resulting window to the place where you want to install it (it should be /Applications).

Debian GNU/Linux

Debian stable (woody)

Add the following lines to your /etc/apt/sources.list:

deb woody main

deb-src woody main

Then, install from the package manager or simple do:

# apt-get update

# apt-get install gnome-vlc libdvdcss2

Connect to the WEAthens2014 live stream

Open VLC to click [Media]–>[Open Network]–>to enter rtsp:// then you will see the VLC start to display the video.


Please note:

  • The stream works only during the specified hours. Outside of these hours, it will produce an error message and you will be unable to connect.
  • If the video doesn’t work during the specified hours please insure that the default port of RTSP protocol is 554 (on both your computer and router firewall)
