Open-source, Arduino-based wind system SD card data loggers

Presenter: Tom Dixon

Jon Leary asked me to develop a low-cost data logger for some of the off-grid projects he is working with in Patagonia.

I developed an Arduino shield which works in conjunction with Matt Little’s wind-resource data logger to record up to 8 current readings, battery voltage in addition to Matt’s windspeed and direction inputs. In addition to being local SD card storage I have used the Open-Energy Monitor platform to publish real time data to a remote server if wifi connectivity is available.

I will be presenting the 3rd version of the logger and explaining some of the issues we had with the first two stages.
